So the ancient pagan people built these huge temples to honor figments of their imagination? Riiiight. "...I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD" Says, God in Exodus. So was God bringing judgment on his imaginary enemies, figments of His imagination? No. The gods were real. Not demons, gods ...as in Ephesians 6:12 as in the gods - powers, rulers, etc. The ones God told Israel not to follow.
When God says, "There are none beside Me," He is doing some holy trash-talking about the "not-so-high" because He is the Most High Elohim. God created them and many of them fell in Genesis 6. Jude even talked about the "angels that kept not their first estate."
God never said other gods don't exist. He's basically saying that compared to Him they are nothing. God is species unique, the only One.
"Rational" and influential Christians have desperately tried to de-supernaturalize the Bible to make it more palatable to the masses. New Age religions and cults have swept in to fill the void because many Christians have been embarrassed by the unabashed supernatural Bible.
Let me state it plainly for you. "When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward when the sons of God came into the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown."
Very interesting. And I have never thought of it like that before. I will agree that is what the word says. Also, the battle we fight daily is against spiritual beings that want to destroy any belief in the one and only True God.
