Since 1990 my skepticism of the media, entertainment, academia,
and government has done nothing but increase. Since March 2020, it has increased exponentially. It's puppets and puppeteers. Operation Mockingbird.
Perhaps this will date me but do you remember the sing-along cartoons of your childhood? Words appeared and we sang along as the bouncing ball landed on the word.
Seems to me government, corporations, celebrities, and media conspire to make sure "we the people" follow their bouncing ball.
Even people I respect seem totally in line with the kanga line of "crises" and the narrative that accompanies them real or fabricated.
We're coerced by potent signs and lying wonders coming straight out of the palms of our hands and TV (smoke) screens. The latest bad thing gets its own name and music as the iconic news logo swirls in over the anchor's grim airbrushed visage with the on-cue arched eyebrow of concern.
If you step away from it for a few years as I have and come back to check, it's almost unbearable to witness the glitz and glam and realize the horror that vast swaths of info junkies trust these clowns. It's like a reformed smoker getting a whiff of burning tobacco, you try to wave it away. It's a disgusting smell and I wonder how I ever endured it.
Who can we forget the live reporter sitting in a canoe on the water telling us about the flooding when a group walked behind her through the water not even up to their ankles?
Just a bit of research would turn up hundreds of instances like the canoe. I'd bet there are thousands. Truths are omitted and embellishments are added and fashioned into believable scenarios making you feel like you've connected the dots. And most don't have time or the critical thinking to dispute the platter of tasty morsels of narrative.
And it only takes a minute of research to find the compilation of news organizations repeating the exact phrases, as if reading from an identical script. Puppets and puppeteers follow the bouncing ball causing minds to bob heads in unison to the Pied Piper's tune.
As I look back on my involvement with the internet from the early days of message boards, my blogs, my YouTube channel, my website, and now Facebook, and seemingly countless web searches, downloads, and uploads that I, for many years, was seduced by Piper's tune. As Zeppelin sang, "The Piper's calling you to join him."
Isaiah 53:6 said, "Like sheep we have all gone astray." Jesus said, "See to it that no one deceives you." And yet our modern minstrels sing many popular songs to us that seem to glorify and encourage accepting comforting lies as opposed to discomforting truths. Bouncing balls as Jonny Lang sings, "Lie to me."
Lately, I've come to believe those gilded lies have led us into a giant virtual kill zone whilst many of us think we've "arrived".
